LaCie d2 DVD enclosure to Blu-Ray?

Would it be alright if I bought the LaCie d2 DVD drive and removed it to put in a blu-ray drive to use just the enclosure? Or should I just get the macmall d2 for 150$? Or an alternative blu ray player?

Just guessing, no real life experience w/ the D2, but as along as both are standard 5.25 width they should. But I'd buy from a store that had an easy return policy and that is not MacMall. Does Amazon stock it?

No but ebay has it. Idk if the drive would have to be IDE or if it was could I use a converter?
