Just picked up a Lacie 200GB d2 drive. Figured it was time to protect myself and backup (never done it before) I have a 15" Powerbook, iMac800. I am looking for suggestions at backing up these items. I am also wanting to backup up Photos and MiniDV tapes. Before I take this item out for a spin I was hoping for some suggestions. Should I partition? if so how many partitions, and what should go on thoes partitions. My current feeling is to create 2 partitons 1 for data and 1 for media. I was just going to use the bundled software (Silverkeeper) seemed to be pretty straightforward. Anyhow just fishing for what has worked in the past.

I feel if its just data going on these drives, no need for partitions. Just organize it very well. I would get a .mac account, being that you have more then one mac(isync is great) and it comes with great backup software. I also have the same drive, the firewire 2 ports are great for video.
