When I turn off my MacBook, I leave my external HD plugged in the firewire 400 port, and when I put my ear up to the HD, I can hear it making a slight spinning noise so I can tell that it is on. I left it on overnight and it was still on in the morning, is this normal? Should I just unplug it when I turn off my MacBook?

Samsung?

Is the hard drive manufactured by Samsung by any chance? Check by going to disk utility then info on disk.

I don't think it is manufactured my Samsung, I'm not positive though. I clicked the drive and clicked info, and I saw nothing that said Samsung so I am assuming no.
