LaCie External HD Reformatting

I want to reformat my LaCie hard drive to work with both Mac and Windows, and I think it can be done since I read somewhere about FAT32 formatting. I went into disk utility and I couldn't find any option to reformat to FAT32. Obviously it won't be that easy, so if anyone could give me a step by step walkthrough, it would be GREATLY appreciated!
