One of my external HDs is a 1TB LaCie d2, which is daisy-chained in FW800 to another LaCie external working as TM backup. However, it is no longer being recognized by Finder, even though TechTool Pro 6 (and even Disk Utility) see it as "read-only" device.

I am now doing a surface scan, which so far shows only ONE bad block (in position zero). Any tips as to what I can do recover it? Or is it a lost cause?

I already know that LaCie is not exactly the most reliable brand, but that's beside the point...please let me know if you can help me AT LEAST reformat the drive to a good shape again.

Nevermind, resolved it myself. After several attempts at checking the volume and so on (one bad block), I plugged it directly into the computer with USB (instead of FW800) where the Mac was at least able to recognize it for formatting. Now it's on to recovering the files from a TM backup.
