LaCie firewire 52x cdr and itunes?

I can't get my d2 lacie 52x cdrw to burn cdr's at that rate. An 80min mix takes +/-5min. to burn. With toast 6.0 it takes about 2min.

Any ideas as to why I can't burn at the max rate?

I just checked Itunes prefs and the it doesn't go higher than 24 speed... Maybe this is only my mac, because it already an oldie and has an older firewire cd-r burner from LaCie.

I memory is correct, I think I have read somewhere that the maximum of burn capability is 36 speed!
