LaCie HD - can not mount, can not initialize

So here I am on Sunday planning to back up my system onto a LaCie Rugged drive. I've used the drive before (its about 2 months old) but not i can not read the drive, i can't verify or fix it either....so now what? is this drive dead?

did you try a reformatting? does disk utility recognize the disk? :apple:
