Lacie Little Big Disk not recognized or showing up on my MacBook Pro !

I bought a new lacie little big disk (1TB), connected to my laptop-MacBookPro with a thunderbolt cable,but it is not showing up on my laptop "finder" or "disk utility" applications ! The blue light on the hard disk is not "ON" .Anybody know why ? Thanks.

Have you connected the external power to the thunderbolt device?

Yes.The power cable is connected ...

Yes.The power cable is connected to power.Sorry for not mentioning that.I thought that goes without saying....Thanks anyway.
