hello Guys,

Problem: Can I adjust my made partitions on my LaCie external HDD without erasing their content?

A year ago i partitioned my 2 Tb into 6 partitions, all unequal sizes. Now I'm running out of place to put movies on the biggest one, and I would like some other partitions that i am now using, to enlarge the movie partition.
Obviously, i don't want to erase my movies, nor do i have the place to back them up.

cheers:confused::confused::confused:

That depends on the filesystem of the drive. If it's formatted as HFS+, you can easily click and drag the partition sizes in Disk Utility to make them larger or smaller without affecting the data on the disk.

If, however, it is not HFS+, I believe you'll need a third party program to do this.

Regardless, you should be backing up anything on that drive. And if you have not, you should do so before attempting to resize the partitions.

Yes, as long as the drive is formatted as Mac OS Extended (HFS+) you can resize by following this guide.
