Hi everyone -

Well, now I've done it. In the process of moving I lost the power supply to my old 250gb V1 Porsche drive. The problem is this early FW400 version used a small-pin plug for power as opposed to the 4-pin that all the LaCies use now. This power supply has been discontinued, leaving me with a huge music library and no way to turn on the drive to get it off the thing!

I'm wondering if it's possible to buy a new enclosure and switch out the hard drives? I know very little about enclosures, if they include the power assemblies and type-depending, could accept the drive from my LaCie.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Yes. It's no big deal. Just be sure to match the internal interface (IDE or SATA) on the new enclosure to the old one.

It won't make a difference if the new enclosure you get is USB or FireWire. That is your choice.
