Lacie portable drive used for video editing with a MBP

Im looking at a Lacie portalble drive to use for video editing with my macbook pro. The reason I'm looking at the drive is because it has firewire 800. Has anyone used this drive for video editing?

Lacie is like the #1 drive for macs. Quite a bit of people have them here, and use them for video editing.

I've been looking for an external HDD to do FCP work also. Thanks for asking the question for me .

I've been looking into the rugged drive and also this LaCie little big disk extreme (1TB FW800 7200RPM,5.5pounds $219), or this G-Tech G-Drive Mini (200GB FW800 7200RPM, very small size, $257).

I like the G-Drive because the Aluminum looks really sexy next to an MBP, but it's also way more expensive..

I'm also figuring that since this will be used for a MacBook Pro that the drive should be as portable as possible, so the LaCie 1TB drive seems out of the question...

The rugged drive seems pretty good.

Take a look/search around the forums. There are literally hundreds of threads asking about external hdd advice.
