Hi there,

After an accidental disconnection from the computer, my hard drive no longer mounts or displays on the desktop or in finder. It displays in Disk Utility and I have verified and repaired the disk, it did nothing. I want to try and avoid wiping it at all costs because there are some very important files on there.

The format is Mac OS X Journaled Extended.

Thanks.

Try downloading the trial version of Data Rescue from www.prosofteng.com

It will let you know if the data can be recovered.

Also, are you able to use First Aid in Disk Utility?

Sounds like a corrupted file system. Try connecting it to another MAC. If it responds in the same manner it is time to consider Data recovery services. Data Rescue, as g4cube mentioned, is actually a good choice for lighter jobs. If that won't do it then we recommend you contact D2 recovery. ~TE
