Anyone have any experience with this unit? Before I buy it, I would like to know if, when hooked up to the tv, it will play downloaded iTunes movies.
Thanks.....

According to the LaCie website for the product, it is compatible with these formats:

Video: MPEG-1, MPEG-2 (AVI, VOB, ISO) and MPEG 4 (AVI, DivX®, XviD);
Audio: MP3, WAV, WMA, AAC1, and AC3;
Photo: JPEG (up to 8 mega pixel)2

1: the silverscreen does support "regular" AAC audio format (Windows) but not the proprietary "AAC format of Apple (".m4a")
2: the silverscreen does support "regular" JPEG photos in RGB mode but not in CMYK format.

You should probably check with the manufacturer for specific details.

I see that the downloaded iTunes movies are .m4v files. Do you know the difference between the quoted unsupported .m4a and .m4v....Audio/Video?

The difference that I'm aware of is that downloads from the iTune Store have DRM encryption (digital rights management). But there are probably other differences that I'm not aware of.
