Anyone else encountering lag/stutter issues when using the usb receiver for their MX Master 2S? I'm using an M1 Macbook Pro, by the way.

How did you resolve it? It's driving me nuts.

There have been other posts about this. I ended up just switching to a usb mouse instead. (I had an M1 MBA though…) It was the same thing. Very inconsistent lag and stuttering.

There are even more but that is the gist of the situation. I think the bluetooth controllers are just inconsistent. Some have trouble and some don’t. I did have trouble.

OP:

Does this particular mouse offer the option of connecting via bluetooth as well as by using the unifying receiver?

Is it possible that even though you have the USB receiver connected, the Mac is still communicating with the mouse via bluetooth?

I'd check the bt preference pane and make sure it was turned OFF, thus forcing the mouse to connect via the unifying receiver...

In my experience, I've found certain BT chips in some mice don't play nicely with the BT chips in the M1 MacBooks. I had a heck of a time with my M1 MBA and several bluetooth mice. I did find that the Microsoft Modern Mobile Mouse worked well, as does the Microsoft Ergonomic Mouse.

I seem to have less of an issue with my M1 Pro 14" MBP than I did with my original M1 MBA, so I'm wondering if the original M1 system-on-chip was to blame.

Otherwise, you should get smooth performance out of the Logitech (proprietary) RF dongle. If not, there's something else at play and you should see if you're getting smooth performance out of your built-in trackpad (to help isolate a software problem versus an RF interference problem).
