I have read many posts online and everyone talks computer talk.. can someone please tell a lamen, if my windows parallel 6 is backed up via my time machine on the mac, or do I need to do a seprate back up via windows.. It looks as though it is included in my backup, but how can I be sure..

Have a look at System Preferences --> Time Machine --> Options. There's the Time Machine exclude list. i.e. everything in this list won't be backed up.

Make sure your Applications folder isn't on that list (for the Parallels application itself). The same thing must be true for the folder containing your Parallels virtual machine file(s). (or its parent folder...)
