Looking for info on answering machine software/hardware.

Is there an external device that would allow you to run a phone line through an iMac?

I know nothing about this, wondering if anybody does this or knows anything about using a computer as an answering machine.

Ah that brings back memories. Circa 1996- I had a Toshiba Pentium running Windows 95, that boasted a TV Tuner, FM Radio, built in speakers and subwoofer on the monitor and this great fax/modem with a form of visual voicemail :) It was their "Infinia" line and their only real try and the North American consumer desktop market.
