I usually watch movies or shows on my white macbook that are high definition... and my temperature can get up into the 70's pretty easily with fanspeeds at 5000rpm, so I'm looking for a good laptop cooler to use when watching videos.

I've searched a little bit but couldn't find any real consensus on a good one. The threads I've looked at are pretty old so i was thinking maybe some newer, better coolers might be out there now?

I've also seen a lot of suggestions for things like the Griffin Elevator.. but i was thinking couldn't i just make a makeshift elevator myself with a few books or something on each side of the macbook?

Cheap

I have had something like this for the last 6 years. Worked fine under my old dell and works great with my Macbook pro -
Handstands Cool Lift Portable Notebook Cooling Pad 22100

You could do the same with books but the little rubber feet do a great job of keeping everything in place when it shifts around on your lap and I really don't think you need the fans that are in all those other lap coolers.
