I've heard that the life of a mac laptop can be extended if you use some kind of laptop cooling pad. Is this true?

Which type of cooling pad works best?

I don't use a cooling pad but I do use a Podium Pad from roadtools.com and that does keep my PB G4 running cooler.

if you use an mb/p, you can use smcfancontrol to increase the minimum speed of your fans, thereby keeping your laptop cooler.

And in theory, putting more stress on the fans and the fan barrings.

if you'd rather replace the motherboard, battery, hard drive, or case instead of the fan, that's cool. me, i'd rather switch the fan, given the choice.
