So this story starts with an iPhone, but it has really nothing to do with one, other than the fact that my problem started the same time that I got it.

Anyways, here goes:

I have a revision A MBP (Core Duo, 100gb 7200rpm, 2gb ram) that is 15''. On top of what is the problem I will explain, my laptop has a broken fan, and a broken super-drive. I should also note that my laptop is out of warrenty, and money is really tight now. Having Apple fix my laptop if they need to probably wont work as I dont live anywhere near an Apple Store, and calling them will cost me a lot of money up-front.

I'm not really sure how to explain this. The USB ports on my laptop work, but after a certian ammount of time - they just... slow down. It sounds incredibly weird, and I have tried nearly every possible way to diagnose and fix the problem myself. When I got my iPhone - I began to sync it like anyone else, but I noticed (as I left it alone) that when I came back, the pictures and music I had tried to sync were litterally crawling along at an incredibly slow pace.

After rebooting my iPhone, my laptop, my USB Hub, my External HD, and so forth, I continually come across the same general series of events. My laptop will reboot normally and recognize anything plugged into the USB Ports while botting up at full speed for about 5 minutes and then just start crawling. if it is not plugged into the laptop when it is rebooted it simply will not show up on the laptop under anything (finder, system profiler, ect) until quite some time.

I've tried resetting the PMU, I have tried plugging things directly into my laptop rather than a hub. I have tried both of the USB ports on my laptop. To top it all off I just did a fresh format of my HD from the system discs included and I still have the same problem.

I am running out of ideas. Someone help me be able use my laptop again.
