I have been using a duplicate charger for my 2011 macbook pro for the last one year. It has a regular buildup of static electricity & the trackpad gets wonky during which time I use a mouse & it become normal again. I recently was in a house with no grounding & once I came back, the laptop only works when it is connected to the charger otherwise it's lagging. I ended up getting an original charger a few hours ago but the problem still persists. Should I wait for a few days & see or what should I do?

Try a SMC reset
It is the one handling charging.

How long can you use it when on battery only?
Is that the original battery?
If it will not work without the power adapter, maybe all you need is a battery
Your 2011 MBPro battery is easy to replace.

The battery can be swelling. It is located directly underneath the trackpad, perhaps causing intermittent cursor movement, and can prevent the trackpad from "clicking" - due to the swelling battery literally pushing up against the trackpad. If you remove the bottom cover, a swelling battery will likely be visible to you.
