I accidentally got a large drop of water on my iPad Air 2 speaker about he size of a finger. My iPad was completely off already, and I made sure to completely dry it off first before powering it on. Didn't have a chance to check if the speakers worked as I was in a hurry, but everything seemed to work fine.

If it was powered down at the time it got wet, and was completely dry when you powered it up, you should be fine. If it happened any other way, or the liquid was not water, but soda, juice, coffee, etc, it could become problematic at some point in the future.
