I have a large mailing list, about 3500 names, that I send announcements to occasionally. Entourage used to work fine but I switched to Mail and now I'm having trouble. As soon as I add my mailing list into the Bcc it seems to just hang forever with the rotating beach ball. After about 10 minutes it lets me click send, then beach ball again for 15 minutes or so. Then a window popped up that said one of my email addresses appeared to be wrong (it was, it had a period in the wrong place- like this "jeff@jeffsoto.com.") It asked me if I wanted to send anyway I said yes, then 10 minutes and then a message saying another one was wrong. So two questions-

1. Is mail just really slow and clunky? Entourage handled 4000+ emails with ease (I'd use it but had a HD crash last year and lost everything).

2. Is there a way I can go in and perform a search for bad email addresses through Address Book? It will take forever to look through them all one at a time.

My hardware, Dual G5, 1GB ram, OS 10.3.9

Thanks for any advice!
