Is there a larger battery that can be had for the macbook pro? I'm going to begin using my macbook for business and I don't want to carry the charger and I will be running Parrells, so it will be pushing the battery pretty hard.

No, there isn't a larger battery. Just take the charger with you. It's not that big. There are many factors that impact your battery life. See the BATTERY LIFE FROM A CHARGE section of the following link for details, including tips on how to maximize your battery life.

This should answer most, if not all, of your battery questions:

Taking the adapter is all well and good assuming I can plug it in, which will not always be possible/appropriate/professional.

Just plug it in when it is possible/appropriate/professional, and maximize your battery life when it isn't. The batteries are built-in, not user-replaceable and a larger battery isn't available. It wouldn't fit, even if there was one.
