Hi,

I was wondering if anyone could tell me what the largest screen size (and resolution) a Macbook can power for an external monitor?

I'm looking at getting a Macbook probably within the week and will also be getting a 19 - 20.1 " monitor for when it's at my desk.

I'd be grateful for any prompt replies,

(my hand has been forced in buying a new laptop, my current one has been pretty mashed and it's vital for college that i have a laptop)

Thanks for any help!

14-15": 1024x768 (XGA)
17-19": 1280x1024 (SXGA)
20"+: 1600x1200 (UXGA)
19” (Widescreen): 1440x900 (WXGA+)
20” (Widescreen): 1680x1050 (WSXGA+)
24” (Widescreen): 1920x1200 (WUXGA)
30” (Widescreen): 2560x1600

:)

The size of the display is irrelevant. The highest resolution the MacBook can output to a secondary display is 1920x1200. You could power a 100" display so long as it has that resolution.

The MacBook Pro can output up to 2560x1600.

Don't you mean 1920x1200?

Does the MB work okay with the Dell 24" LCD, 2407WFP? I believe this has a 1920x1200 native resolution. Anyone using the two together?

If the MacBook can handle 1920 x 1200, then it will work just fine on Dell's 2407WFP. The native/max resolution is indeed 1920 x 1200. ;)

No, he was right. The Macbook Pro has Dual-Link DVD and has a max external resolution of 2560 by 1600.

Wrong bit, he was referring to where I said 1920x1080 instead of 1920x1200. Just had the wrong res in my head when watching an ad about a HD TV.
