I have a august 08 MBP (1 year old) and the 200gb harddrive that came with it is not cutting it. What is size drive does it use, 9.5 mm? What is the largest one out on the market.

Thanks for sharing your knowledge

I bought this

from bestbuy today. Used Carbon copy cloner to ghost my drive and for some reason, there is a long delay (20 seconds) before I get the Apple logo splash screen and then it boots very quickly. Don't know whats up with delay just yet. Anyone have any ideas?

Has anyone successfully installed a WD 1TB in their 15" MBP? I am very tempted to do it, but it's 12.5mm instead of 9.5mm.

Won't fit, particularly in the models that had the removable batteries. The 17" can reportedly take a 12.5mm drive with some tweaking, but the 15" and 13" require 9.5mm drives.

I've read otherwise in multiple threads here and elsewhere. Seems the 12.5 was reported to fit without mods in all Unibody macs with removable batteries and not the ones released in June.

Darn. Well I have one of the ones released in June. Guess I have to wait for a 9.5mm big drive to come out.

Actually pureSilicon makes a 2.5" 1TB SSD drive. The drive has a read/write speed of 240MB/s and 215MB/s using Sata II
