Hi, I'm wondering what is the current largest internal hard drive (and what exactly is the type? 2.5? sata?)

I'm currently running out of space on my mbp v1.1, and am looking to upgrade, but I want to make sure I get the proper type so there are no issues!

Also, does anyone have any opininon on which manufacturer type to go with?
I honestly have not been keeping up with hard drive technology as of late and need some help!

Thanks

ahh, nice, so it is SATA and 2.5inch.. Nice.

Any recommendations on which manufactor?

I've never had any problems with the multiple Samsung drive I own.

Remember, the Hitachi drive is not 9.5mm (which the 15 inch mbp requires).

AFAIK Samsung is the only available 9.5mm height drive.

Thanks for the responses, I"ll have to look. I'm probably going to be getting a new 17inch mbp and upgrade the harddrive from there.

Depends on what you're using it for. I record audio so I use a fast Glyph PortaGig external drive for my recording bin....then back it up to another external drive for safe keeping. My internal drive is for the OS & programs. I've ordered the 7200 200gb upgrade so its fast but no need to fill that one up w/ files.

but what is the height of the drive that will fit in the 17inch mbp?

I'm talking about leaving the stock drive/or 7200 upgrade w/ Apple and then using a fast portable drive for the extra files. I think you'll get more mileage out of that and have a much more stable working system.

Some of us don't want to carry external HDDs around (e.g. me)
