I'm from the uk and I will be going to Vegas in 5 weeks. I'm planning on buying a 32gb or 64gb wifi only iPad2 when I'm out there. I would like to know what each model costs after tax? I've read online that tax is about 9% but have been told it's higher, so I'm not sure if it's worth just getting from the uk and not have to wait.

It would be so much easier if tax was just included with the price on display like it is in the UK.

Tax varies from area to area all around the United States. There probably isn't one tax rate in Las Vegas too, there would be 3 or 4 different rates depending on where the store is. It's very confusing.

Thanks for the reply. Your right about confusing. is there anyway I can find out what tax I will be paying? I've ready it's cheaper to get it posted and order from the apple website, however I am only there a week so don't want to risk it arriving late.

The price will be the same whether you order from Apple.com or buy at a store. Companies that have physical locations within a state are obligated to collect that state's taxes for all purchasers within the state, whether theyorder online or walk into a store. The only exceptions are online companies which are completely housed out-of-state.

all he wants to know is what the final price will be for him if he buys an ipad on his visit to vegas. certainly there is only one tax rate for the the city of l.v. there has to be someone in vegas that can answer. come on.

Another way to check would be to go to apple.com and add it to your cart, then go through the checkout process and enter a las vegas zip code. It'll then calculate the appropriate sales tax. You can then stop the checkout process before the billing stage.

Saved him the trouble :p. I figured this with the zip code of the Bellagio Casino.
$48.52 tax / 599 = 0.081... so 8.1%
