Hi all, I'm in the market for a new printer. And, based on price of printer and toner and current deals ('til Saturday at NewEgg), the HL-4040CDN looks to be a pretty good buy with what I estimate for my use to be a cost of around 4-6¢ per page.
My concern, however, are the reviews I read about with its color accuracy. It seems to offer calibration options/features, but really the main con (other than weight) seems to be peoples' opinion of its color. And the user's guide specifically states, "Colors the printer can print and colors you see on a monitor are different. The printer may not be able to reproduce the colors on your monitor."
Now, I don't need photo-accurate colors. Costco works wonders and is incredibly cheap for that. But, I don't want reds to turn out brown, or light green to turn out moss-colored (as happened on a color laser printer at work when I was printing my masters thesis).
I'm curious as to whether anyone has experience with any of the three printer models I mentioned (4040CD/CDN or 4070CDW) and if so, what you can tell me about the color. I mention all three because they're basically the same, though I've read that 4070 does seem to have somewhat better color accuracy (but costs $150 more).
