So, after driving my friends mad by blabbering about buying a portable mac for about a year now I'm probably ordering a new MBP tomorrow. All I need is some final advice.
My plan is to buy the entry-level variant, matte screen, 2GB RAM (maybe upgrade to some cheap 4GB RAM later on). The 3MB cache is a bit worrying but I honestly don't really know what normal-use difference it makes and I can't really afford the midrange MBP either.
So, time to pick the harddrive. I'm choosing between 250GB (5400rpm) and 200GB (7200rpm). Of course the latter is faster, but I've heard that a larger drive is faster than a smaller on the same rpm. Is that correct? Does anyone here have some experience of both of these drives? I don't want the harddrive to be slow, but if the difference is negligible a smaller and more expensive drive seems unnecessary. I already have a 500GB external drive, connected via USB.
I'm going to use the computer for some CAD, photoshop/illustrator/indesign/dreamweaver, musiclistening, musicmaking, browsing the web, maybe a game once in a while.
Some advice would be great because I really want to throw my 5-year-old PC out of the window right NOW
