So last night I ordered a 13 inch customized 2.3 ghz with a 500 gb hard drive and 8 gb of memory. I plan on downloading and learning some new programs like with photography and drawing and such. I am out of school but still do make presentations and all of that. I am not a gamer but can i still play some games and such if I wish? The 2.7 i7 just looks on paper to be much faster but much more money. i currently have a macbook 2006 but liked alot of the features that the 2011 MBP's offered that the macbook did not.

You got a good one. the bump in CPU power would be most beneficial for video work, and to a lesser degree, photo work. For your stated uses, the 2.3 should suit you well.

you made the right choice. the 2.3ghz i5 is a better value, not to mention you most likely will not notice that much of a difference between a 2.3ghz i5 and a 2.7ghz i7. you'd basically be paying $300 for an extra 180gb hdd space and to go to the 2.7ghz i7, which probably isn't worth it.

i agree. you should be fine. if not, return and get 15?

Depends on the kind of games you want to play and how long you want to use your laptop. If you plan on buying a new laptop in a few years, I think you made the right choice.
