I have a jb 3.1.3 3GS.

I sync'd today so I could restore my new iPhone 4 from a fresh backup.

3GS sync completed fine, but when I plugged in the new iPhone, it said my last sync was May 16!! Tried it twice...same thing.

Anyone know what might be going on?

Thanks!

Maybe your last sync didnt go thru all the way and became corrupt.
Resync your 3GS again and then have the iphone 4 restore to that.

I thought the same thing - but like I said I tried it twice and it still is coming up with a last sync date of 5/16...???

Open up itunes and go to edit/preferences/devices.
Then delete your device backup listed.
Then plug back in your 3GS and do a backup.
It should only then have the latest one available that you did today.

Ok thanks - going to give that a try now. I wonder if this has anything to do with wifi sync. I installed that back when it came out and then read that it had some problems when trying to restore. So I deleted it from my computer (for sure) and from my phone (I think).

Anyway, I'll report back. Thanks again.

That might have cause an issue also.
I heard alot of people having problems with it.
Not worth it IMO.

So deleting the device backup didn't work. After i sync'd it again, i plugged in the iphone 4 and itunes didnt even find any backup of my old phone.

Which led me to the solution, i think.

Back when i installed wifi sync, i clicked on some setting to turn backups off (in order to speed up the sync).

I think backups have been turned off ever since.

So i followed the directions here to turn backups back on:http://www.mydigitallife.info/2008/...backup-process-to-speed-up-slow-sync-process/

The 3gs is now backing up in itunes and im pretty sure it will work now...

Thanks again for your help!

Wow, so the wifi sync was causing the problem.
Glad it worked out.

Yeah, must have been a leftover thing from when i told wifi sync not to backup the phone. Then i deleted the wifi sync software and kind of forgot about it.

I only figured this out after i took your advice and deleted the old backup. When i re-sync'd and there was still no back up, then i realized what was going on.

Cheers.
