Late '08 Macbook Pro Left-Click Not Working

Okay so recently I have been having a hard time left-clicking on my late 2008 MBP. Everything else with my trackpad works fine (Tap to click, right-click, scrolling, etc.) it's just my left click that doesn't work very well. I'd say about 8/20 clicks actually register. I'm honestly not sure why it's happening, the only thing I can think of would be that it's just broken and needs to be replaced. Any ideas on what's causing it? Or if it is broken does anyone know how much it might cost to replace?

The trackpad is probably going bad or the battery is swollen. You can buy a trackpad on ebay like this

They are not too involved to replace. Not sure what inch your laptop is but you need to get the right 1 for your laptop.
