Late '08 MBP flickering when woken up

what OS X version are you using? There was an update made some months ago (years maybe, i forgot the exact time) to address some of these, mine was fixed after the update. Otherwise it might be a hardware thing.

My case was fixed with a Lion update.

It doesn't happen all the time, just sometimes when it wakes up from sleep mode. The flickering isn't very strong and occurs for less than a minute (and mostly when using the 9400 standard battery). Should I take it in or is it nothing to stress about? I just hope this isn't a symptom of my screen about to die on me...

If I'm not mistaken, that's the Nvidia model, correct? If so, that could be early signs of the video chip failing. Not meaning to give you a scare, just mentioning as those models are notorious for failed video. Google Nvidia GeForce 8600m GT failure

This is the 9400M and the 9600M GT.

While not as common as the 8600 failures, I have seen some of those fail as well. Try resetting the PRAM and see if that helps. On boot hold cmd + alt/option + P + R.
