So, I just got the MBP and uploaded FCP (an older version), and it works after a little coding correction in textedit...

However, I tried to upload Motion 2 and I get coreFoundationUnknownErr when trying to register it, plus - once the program is opened it crashes everytime. I've tried reloading the program several times.

So, am I just screwed here and have to purchase Motion 3 ...? That of which, I'm assuming that I'd have to buy in the FC Studio package...?

You just need the Universal Binary version.

Final Cut Studio 1 can run on Leopard fine.

If you have the PPC version just borrow the discs from someone else and use your own serial number.

I don't think Apple offers the crossgrade anymore beacause FCS2 has been out for awhile now.

No, a v5 serial number will not work with v5.1 discs... that was the whole point of the crossgrade. Everyone got new discs and new SN's. If you have v5 (non-Universal Binary) then yes, you'll need to upgrade to FCS2 which will be $699, I believe, since you don't have the latest version (would be $499 if you have v5.1).

No.

You can use a FCS 1.0 serial with 1.1

I didn't get a new serial.

Sure you didn't crossgrade from one product not the whole studio?
