So we have upper and lower slots, which slot should the 4GB module go into?

Which slot is DIMM0 and which is DIMM1?

Can you mix RAM from different sources?

Like if I buy a 4GB chip from OWC and want to replace one of the two 2GB chips in a MBP which has two Apple supplied 2GB chips, can I mix the two different brands of RAM? Assuming good quality chips, are they likely to work well together?

As long as its 1066MHz it shouldn't matter mate, just make sure the stick is Mac friendly they can be picky

Thanks - I finally found reference that it can go into either slot too. Mixing different sizes will cause the loss of dual channel so its very marginally slower but you get the extra RAM which is useful for me (running VMs).
