Late '11 15" kernel panics within a few seconds of turning it on

Like the title says, I woke up and my mbp had kernel panic'd. Restarted and it loaded fully into Lion once, then kp'd when iTunes was restoring. After that it never got past a few seconds of booting. Gave up after the 10th time for fear of doing some damage (can it?)
What could be the cause? I upgraded the ram just after Christmas but it's been running fine so far. No other problems except a recurring little graphics glitch that flashes up just before the log in window on boot.

put old RAM back in.

If error persists, find the nearest Apple store.
