Late 2006 MBP :: Proper Erase and Reinstall

Hey guys,

I am erasing and reinstalling so that I can give my old MBP to the girlfriend. It came with Tiger and I upgraded to Leopard an then to Snow Leopard. Do I need to use the original Tiger disk that came with the system and then do incremental upgrades? Or can I start out with the latest version of SL ?

Just do a reformat and install SL. It shouldn't give you any issues with that.

Start up from the SL disc and go into disk utility. Format your hard drive then. Then install and it should be fine.

Well I went this route and about half way through realized that by only installing the most recent disc, I lose the extra preinstalled software like iPhoto and the like.

I think I need to reformat and install from the factory disc and THEN install the most recent upgrade.

Oh hindsight.....

So... then re-install iLife? It's on the 2nd install DVD that came with your mac...
