hi,

My old mbp had a broken superdrive so i wanted to change to a HDD caddy but i realized that superdrive is not sATA. what can i do? is there a caddy for this? what does the old connection called? i suppose i can't find a sATA to mainboard cable, but maybe a supported caddy

ill add a close but blurry pic of it:

Other World Computing (macsales.com) sells a 'caddy' for older macs. I have and '07 MBP and looked into it.

I chatted with tech support, and if I remember correctly, macbook pro's up until macbookpro5,1 (mine is a MacBook Pro 3,1) have an ATA connection for the optical drive. They sell a caddy with ATA connection, but it's $99. The sata type is around $20-$30, I think.

If you go to OWC and try to find the ATA caddy, its hard to find. I couldn't find it anyways. I had to ask about it and they sent me a link.

hope this helps
-Mike
