I've just got a lovely late-07 MacBook, which is in great condition with upgraded 3Gb RAM and a new 320Gb hard drive installed by the first owner. It's also had a new genuine battery put in by that initial owner which so far has only 89 charge cycles on.
My previous Sony laptop's battery now lasts no longer than a few minutes off mains power but I did use it mostly on the power adaptor. I hope this isn't a silly question but how best can I preserve the battery life on this MacBook? I'm presuming running it mostly on the mains will eventually damage the battery. How often should I use it on the battery to keep it in good working order? I've read that full discharges aren't recommended though - apart from about once a month to ensure it remains calibrated. Is this true - or is this advice for mobile phone batteries?
Thanks
