so my battery stopped charging...sometimes the logo shows an 'X', it doesnt charge at all, at the moment im using it as a desktop as it has to always be plugged in

any ideas as to what is wrong?

It's absolutely NOT recommended to leave your MBP plugged in all the time. You'll shorten your battery's life by doing that. Make sure your battery is properly seated, calibrate it, reset the SMC. This should answer most, if not all, of your battery questions:

at the moment i have to leave it plugged in no choice..

ive reset the battery or wateva took the battery out and held the power button, i read about a logic board problem, do i just need to replace the battery is that garunteed to work?

Why do you say you have no choice? All you have to to is unplug from time to time and run on battery. Are you saying it won't run at all on battery?

battery is not holding ANY charge anymore, i used to charge to 100 then unplug

so now i have no choice but to leave it plugged it so the power source is the wallcharger

It sounds like you need a new battery. I wouldn't trust any battery that didn't come from Apple, as many have reported problems with 3rd party batteries. Read the FAQ I posted for information on how to care for your new battery.
