Late 2008 15in MBP RAM Upgrade question

So i recently bought a used Macbook Pro late 08 Unibody. It came with 3GB RAM. Since it already has a 2GB stick in one of the slots, i was thinking of buying a single 2GB Stick to make it 4GB or a 4GB stick to make it 6GB. (Although 4GB would be more than enough)

So my question was, if the brands for both sticks are different (for example, one is samsung and the other crucial) would it effect the performance? More specifically, if both sticks ran in dual channel that would be better performance correct?

Or does the brand not matter as long as they are both 1066 MHz PC3-8500 DDR3 SDRAM?

The performance difference is about 1-2%. Don't fret about it.

Brand doesn't really make a difference, as long as they are the same specs it won't be a problem

Thanks for the replies! I went ahead and ordered a 4GB to make the total a whopping 6GB! Could not find a better deal then this for a single 4GB stick:
