Hi,

I'm thinking of buying a late 2008 MacBook Air really really cheap. It has a 2GHz processor and 2GB ram.

Do you think it will run ML fine? Or would I be better off using Snow Leopard? I will only use it for simple browsing and some school work (primarily math software).

Thanks in advance.

It is capable of running Mountain Lion, but just barely (as the early 2008 MacBook Air does not). Does it have a hard drive or an SSD? If the latter, you might try giving Mountain Lion a try. Otherwise, Snow Leopard may be a better choice.

I believe the top processor on the late 2008 Air was a 1.86GHz Core 2 Duo. It had the NVIDIA 9400m integrated graphics processor. I had one with an SSD (slow by today's standards, but still better than the hard drive), and it worked well for me for 2 years, but I noticed a big leap in performance even with the late 2010s, and certainly with the newer versions.

How cheap is really really cheap? Price is really the dependent factor here.
