I have a late 2008 MacBook Pro running Snow Leopard. and lately whenever i been running on battery, the computer has been randomly powering off. as it it losing all power, but it doesn't seem to matter what level the battery is at. but once i plug the AC adapter it, i do not have any kind of problem. i guess it could just be a dead battery. but i was wondering if anyone would know.

Make sure you've calibrated the battery, so you know you're getting accurate readings on its condition. How many cycles do you have on it, and what's its health?

iStat Pro is a good way to monitor your battery and other system indicators.

thanks that is a very nice tool. it says my battery health is 44% and for Cycles is says 272. i am guess since the Health is 44%, that is not a good number.

by the way, to follow the instructions from Apple to calibrate the batter because lately the laptop has been powering off before the battery has a chance to discharge
