I have a late 2008 mbp and it won't turn on all of a sudden. I have had this issue before but I changed to an older battery and now it's happening AGAIN. I am able to use the emergency boot up method (hold power button 10 secs, plug in charger hold another 10 secs, release the power button and wait 10 secs, then put the battery in and push the power button). It does work but the fan blows really loud the whole time. Does anyone know what could be the problem? Please help me..

if you have the original install disk then you should use that and boot into Apple Hardware Test. This should detect something.

hmm I think I should have it. Will that work even if I can't turn on my mac properly?
Hopefully you will be able to boot into it with the method you described.

Thank goodness it turned on because I had my school project on it...Thanks for the tip, I will try it out or maybe schedule an apple appointment!
