Late 2008 Unibody MBP and 8 GB 1333 MHz RAM

I installed 8 GB OWC 1333 MHz RAM on my late 2008 unibody 15'' MBP. It runs well but what really surprises me is that it appears to run at 1333 MHz instead of the expected 1067 MHz. Is it really running at this speed or am I missing something?
