Hi all!
I have an older model of MBP. It's actually my parent's laptop but I've used for studying and also playing games sometimes.
I've used Fan Control to manage the temperature of the laptop while playing - it never went higher than 82 celsius (around 170 Fahrenheit). Fans' RPM were about 5700 RPM at this time, nothing special here, right?
But recently I've quit gaming / using graphics intensive programs and I've decided to delete Fan Control - and I did delete it today according to the developer's instructions... which included the deletion of some files in Library/Preferences, PrefPanes. I also reseted the MacBook's SMC, or at least I thought I did...
Because I wasn't entirely convinced that Fan Control was really deleted, I used Recovery HD to install a fresh OSX Mavericks. And that's when the problem occurred...
The fans of the MBP are stuck at idle (?) RPM meaning they never go higher that 2000 RPM. I have used GeekBench 3 to run a test - and the CPU temps were around a temperature freaked me out (98 celsius or about 207 Fahrenheit, and the fans' RPM remain the same). I just really feel hopeless right now and I think I may lost the battle against this piece of technology, which I do love but can't handle, maybe...
I'm confused, I have tried to reset the SMC again and again, did a PRAM reset as well... hell, I've also opened the laptop and realized the fans are totally clean (note that we got this laptop back a few months ago from an Apple Service, the display was replaced with a new one and I guess it's fans were cleared).
I'm desperate... please, can somebody help? Have I done something wrong?
