My late 2009 Mac Mini (model MC238D/A, 2.24Ghz P8400) fried, and I got a new M1 Mini, but I still have programs and files on the old workhorse and I would like to have the thing working again. So, I bought a used model from eBay for $100, but I now notice it is a MC239LL/A, 2.53Ghz P8700.
The plan was to simply throw the old hard drive into the replacement machine and keep on truckin.
Am I going to have problems here? What am I going to need to do?
Any help would be really appreciated.

No, just a slightly different (slightly faster) configuration, but should be no problem moving the hard drive to the replacement mini...
But, if you are doing that, why not just swap out the hard drive for an SSD, and take advantage of the improved system response?
You will be happy when it is done.

You could use SuperDuper or Carbon Copy Cloner to clone the HDD onto a SSD.
