Late 2009 Macbook sound output ??

I'm looking to output some movies to my tv through from my macbook. The minidisplay port to HDMI looked like it would work, but then I read that my model (late 2009) would output the sound through the displayport.

Is my best option to get some RCA cables and run them from my headphone jack to my receiver? Is there anything that would work better?
