Late 2009 White Macbook DVD drive error?

Hello

So my macbook is just a few days old, but i think i found something weird with the dvd drive. Its my first mac, so i dont know about this.

But is it common that i have to push the whole dvd/cd inside the drive before it know its a dvd/cd there, its just a tiny bit of cd/dvd to spot before it takes it and sucks it inside. I thought, when over the half of the cd/dvd in, it sucks the cd/dvd inside automaticly. Seems weird i have to push it all inside before something happens.

Is this normal? Also it makes alot of noise at the start, when it sucks it in

Yes, that's normal. It's been the case with every Apple laptop I've owned, from Core Duo MacBooks all the way up to newer MBPs. It's just the way they're designed, I wouldn't worry about it.

As for the noise, that too (unfortunately) is normal.

also, i never use dvd/cds anymore anyways, so the noise doesnt bother me that much. thanks again!
