Does this site's specs for this machine make any sense:

http://www.equanet.co.uk/catalogue/...ters/Apple-Laptops/MD311B/A-APPLE033/APPLE033

What do they mean by:

MacBook Pro 17-inch: 2.4GHz Quad-core Intel Core i7
Processor: 2.5GHz Quad-core Intel Core i7

Typo?

Thanks, so ya I am in the market again for a 17" MBP this time a glossy quadcore 2.5ghz i7 for another of my nephews entering university, he wants glossy. So I'm gonna be on this quest for a long time I think.

Let me know if you find a NEW deal on one please?!

That just means the late 2011 model came (base) with a 2.4GHz Quad-core i7, or you could order the higher-end 2.5GHz i7.

One of the best deals I have found is MacMall. They are offering the 2.5GHz but it is the anti-glare widescreen for $2199. They offer the 2.4GHz in glossy at $1999. I would go with that, your nephew will not notice the .1GHz difference and it is worth saving $200. It will be brand new, unopened, with the full 1-year warranty.

Not sure if MacMall ships to Canada - OP profile stats he is from CA

not many girls on the forum?

Curious how many ladies contribute to this here forum............. Is my public profile visible I wonder?

Thanks for the information. My nephew is very - very smart and knows a lot that I why I have to be very specific about my gift choice. I'm a very proud auntie and he deserves my utmost respect.

Well, keep hunting! You'll come across a good deal soon. If I happen to see a place that does ship to Canada I'll post here. :)

that is really thoughtful i'd appreciate that, sometimes apple store online also has them in their refurb with the glossy 17" 2.5ghz quadcore i7 but they go quick (sigh).
